Calendar History
The Harmony Calendar began life in the late 1990s as a simple, easy-to-produce year-end gift to our clients. It's format was chosen to suit our production capabilities at that time, and the design featured photographs of Canadian landscapes and landmarks, as well as low-key calendar pages suitable for writing brief notes.
In 2000, we took our efforts to the next level. Tapping into the skills of some of our in-house production people, we began a series of themed calendars that reflected the changing vision and focus of the company. Utilizing stock photography of largely Canadian origin, and experimenting with the design of the calendar pages in order to demonstrate our creative inclinations, we produced several editions that were not only extremely well-received by our clients, but, on a couple of occasions, won awards from the Ontario Printing Industries Association.
For 2004 the Harmony Calendar took yet another change of direction. In collaboration with Mountain Rendezvous Publishing Ltd., we featured the paintings of Douglas Laird. Harmony has been producing limited-edition prints of Doug's (and other well-known Canadian artists') paintings for some years now, and the opportunity to feature the work of this best-selling artist was very welcome.
For 2005 and beyond, we are concentrating on the work of Canadian artists such as Doug Laird and Derek Wicks. We are going beyond the original mandate of the year-end client gift calendar, and will be partnering with a broad range of corporate and organizational groups who are anxious to use the calendar in their public-relations and promotional programs.
